NORTHERN NEW JERSEY RESIDENCE

Our client was renovating a historic post modern house, then purchased the adjoining lot to theirs. They combined them and offered us a 1.5 acre lot in which to envision an ecologically restorative private garden. A dream job! We collaborated with the building architect, construction team, project management team and a host of subcontractors to design, project manage and install this magical suburban oasis.

The project began with a total overhaul, clearing existing material and broken fences.  The client requested that the garden feel like a journey through the french countryside. We selected "wild plantings', many pollinator-friendly species to bring in birds, butterflies, bees. The barn door was built as a central focal point and folly. Two designed fountains cool the air. The rear garden wall and "short wall" (which holds storage) was  built with salvaged 125 yr. old brick to match the rear wall of home.

Jens Jensen inspired council ring with center firepit as an island among perennial plantings.
